What is HeChalutzim?
Chalutzim is a Hebrew word that means "pioneers". Chalutzim are people who initiate; people who motivate others and are always interested and excited about new experiences. Chalutzim members are USYers who want to learn more about Israel, support Israel and have.
Who is eligible to join HeChalutzim?
Any USYer who is a paid member of their chapter and region.
What do I receive as a HeChalutzim member?
Once you've signed up to be a Chalutz, you'll receive your HeChalutzim membership card and HeChalutzon, the HeChalutzim newsletter, written by Chalutzim about USY and world events pertaining to Israel.
Are there any HeChalutzim events?
During the course of the year, regional and international HeChalutzim programs, events, and seminars are held. At these seminars, a USY shaliach will conduct membership ceremonies for any new HeChalutzim members.
There is also the annual HeChalutzim Seminar in Israel, when 17 Chalutzim, one from each region, travel to Israel for ten days of learning and experiencing the sights and sounds of Israel, while also seeing USY's ongoing programs in Israel.
What else do I do as a Chalutz?
You'll be involved in a number of activities as in METNY!
How will I learn about Israel?
As a Chalutz, you are expected to acquire some Israel insights on your own. That can be done by writing to an Israeli pen pal; reading about Israel in newspapers and magazines or using the headline section on this website; reading any other Israel information that you get your hands on, learning about Israeli culture by eating Israeli food or listening to Israeli Music and many other ways.
